New Look, New Features, New Editor

On the occasion of Chicagoland Bicycle Federation's 20th anniversary, Bike Traffic decided to get a design overhaul. So, we turned to volunteers Inga Bergman and Donny Harder, Jr. Inga is a talented graduate of Loyola University who designed the invitations to the CBF fall volunteer appreciation party as well as the beautiful CBF gift stationery now available for $5 a set. Donny is a graphic designer who helped us redesign our online version of BikeTraffic. A volunteering veteran, Donny also helped us convert some of our popular publications to electronic format when we redesigned our Web site last year.

We also wish to direct your attention to a regular feature we are introducing this edition: staff community liaison Keith Holt's column, "Crossing That Bridge."

This issue also marks the first produced by our new managing editor, David Callahan, who has run the front desk at CBF since fall of 2002. Callahan has a bachelor's degree in journalism from Northern Illinois University. He is former city editor of the LaGrange Sun and served as press deputy to former Illinois Senate President Philip Rock.

Outgoing Bike Traffic Managing Editor Steve Buchtel handed the reins over to Callahan in January during an hastily-arranged, informal ceremony at CBF headquarters. "Buchtel was a credit to the organization -- a real bulldog," said Callahan. "We have some pretty big shoes to fill. Now, let's have some deli."
