March Conference First Step in Driving Initiative

The first step Chicagoland Bicycle Federation takes in launching Drive With Care is the March 22 Chicagoland Healthy Streets Conference.

Featured speakers are Priscilla Tobias, state safety engineer for the Illinois Department of Transportation, and Bill Wilkinson, executive director of the National Center for Bicycling and Walking.

Local government officials, planners, engineers, community leaders and health providers can expect to gain the tools necessary to win safe, Healthy Streets by reducing speeding and dangerous driving. Participants will learn how to create more livable neighborhoods while increasing walking and bicycling in their communities.

Sessions will focus on cost-effective neighborhood enforcement; creating behavior-changing marketing campaigns; and self-enforcing street design.

Participants will also have the opportunity to network with other local officials, police, health advocates, transportation planners and engineers.
