U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-Ill.) continues to build an impressive record on bicycling. In early February, House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) asked congressmen to resubmit their high-priority projects for consideration in TEA-3, the six-year federal transportation funding program that's been stuck in negotiations for two years. In 2003, Chicagoland Bicycle Federation board member Al Sturges and League of Illinois Bicyclists Director Ed Barsotti helped Jackson find $900,000 for the Burnham Greenway on Chicago's South Side. This year, CBF Southland Coordinator Steve Buchtel pitched in and Jackson upped the amount: $1.2 million to fill in Burnham's lingering gaps and connect the I-294 Lincoln Oasis in Thornton with the Thorn Creek Trail system. Under pressure from the states to pass TEA 3, Congress could deliver a bill to the White House by late spring. For more information on TEA 3, visit americabikes.org.

On April 5, the River Forest Whole Foods Market, 7245 W. Lake St., will donate 5 percent of its profits from all sales to CBF to hire a Bicycling Ambassador for Oak Park-River Forest. Support CBF and come out and shop!

Experience the Road-Share Fair at downtown Oak Park's Day in Our Village festival, noon to 4 p.m. June 5. Drive a pedal-powered "car" through a simulated neighborhood and see how you fare sharing the road with bicyclists. Sponsored by the Community Bank of Oak Park/River Forest. For information, call Pamela Brookstein, (312) 427-3325.

The Chicagoland Bicycle Federation is pleased to announce the following new businesses participating in the member discount program.
