Bike The Drive Benefits Chicagoland Cycling

Looking for a great way to kick off your healthy summer? The fourth annual Bike The Drive on Sunday, May 29 is a terrific way to get in gear, while you support the work of the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation.

Come on out and ride 15 or 30 miles on a car-free Lake Shore Drive and experience Chicago's lakefront and skyline to the fullest. Take a training ride or a leisurely jaunt with friends and family. It's up to you!

Children 13 and under ride for only $5. Plus, our post-ride festival will feature plenty of new activities for the entire family.

If you're reading this, you're in all likelihood a member of the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation, which entitles you to cool down in our members-only VIP tent, where refreshments will be served.

This year's post-ride festival will feature women's activities including a repair and maintenance workshop area presented by the Cycling Sisters (www.cyclingsisters.org) and conducted by Park Tool Mechanic School graduate Arline Welty. "This feature of the festival dovetails nicely with CBF's Top Ten List initiative of increasing the level of bicycling among women," Welty said. "A little bit of maintenance skill enables women to diagnose and take control of normal problems that occur during a bike's life, which helps women bike more, and bike with confidence."

Bike The Drive is the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation's biggest fundraiser and a great time for friends and family to celebrate Memorial Day weekend.
Bike The Drive also is part of Bike Chicago, a three-month celebration of Chicago's commitment to become more bicycle friendly. This program features more than 125 cycling events including the Bike To Work Week rally, architectural bike tours, cycling classes, bike maintenance workshops and more.
