Chicagoland Bike Town Bash tops summer’s slate
There are plenty of opportunities this summer to tie your bicycling
to other Chicagoland pleasures. Here’s a quick rundown of
events the region has to offer:
Share your love of bicycling in what will be the best bicycling
party of the season – Chicagoland Bicycle Federation’s
July 15 Bike Town Bash. Not only will you have an active and fun
time, but your support will benefit the advocacy work of the CBF
to continue such rich programs as Safe
Routes to School, Drive
With Care, and building better bicycle facilities regionally.
The Bike Town Bash features dancing, food, beverages and a silent/live
auction.
CBF is sponsoring two music festivals in Union Park, Washington
and Ashland avenues, that present a stunning lineup of indie rock
artists this summer: the second annual Intonation
Music Festival June 24 and 25 and Pitchfork
Festival July 29 and 30. Bike parking is available at both.
The Chicago
Outdoor Film Festival in Grant Park shows free movies on Butler
Field every Tuesday from July 18 through Aug. 29. Free valet bike
parking is available at Monroe Street and Lake Shore Drive, courtesy
of Chase Bank and Chicagoland Bicycle Federation.
Bring the bike to Taste
of Chicago (June 30 to July 9) and Grant Park’s music
festivals. Avail yourself of the free Chase Bike Valet while absorbing
a range of styles, from delta blues to Irish reels. Bike Valet is
available at: Blues Fest June 8 to 11; Lollapalooza
Aug. 4 to 6; Latin Music Fest Aug. 19 and 20; Jazz Fest Aug. 31
to Sept. 3; Celtic Fest Sept. 16 and 17.
