where we celebrated the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation’s victory
in the long campaign to overturn Metra’s ill-advised ban on
bikes. I wasn’t one of the scheduled speakers; nevertheless,
I was hunted, caught and brought down by Susan Carlson, the traffic

The city of Chicago is taking a new approach to teaching children
about the merits of non-motorized modes of transportation. Mayor
Daley’s Safe Routes Ambassadors, a program of the Chicago
Department of Transportation, promotes a healthy and active lifestyle

Suburb's Streets Resound Briefly with Laughter,
Joy
Call it a taste of Bike The Drive. On May 26, 180 students from
Veteran’s Memorial Middle School got on bicycles and took
over Blue Island’s streets for two hours as part of the school’s
Bike Week and the School District 130 Safe Routes to School program.

In spite of our best efforts, we’re having a tough time getting
rid of the 1998 Boub court decision that threw Illinois liability
law out of sync with other states, creating a disincentive to local

from using hand-held cell phones will make city streets safer once
