From Bogota to Chicago, Parkways Wins Public Over How Will It Look In Three Years? |
How Does it Work? Using the Bogota Ciclovia and Guadalajara Via Recreativa as models, Sunday Parkways will have minimal impact on traffic.
Participants, with the help of volunteer marshals, obey traffic signals. The surrounding street network is not affected. Street closures are augmented by fitness and health events in parks and other locations along the route. The Chicago Park District is considering stations for aerobics, dance, strength circuit training and stretching, as well as children’s activity stations.
