Ride Supports Youth Programs and More

Build & Ride is supported in part by the Dick Herron Memorial Fund, which raised more than $20,000 last year, commencing with an autumn bicycle tour of DePaul and Lincoln Park to mark the first year since Herron’s death in a crash in Libertyville. Chicagoland Bicycle Federation now moves from last year’s memorial event, in honor of Dick Herron, to the Annual Ride and Walk.

To honor Herron, and those pedestrians and cyclists who were killed by aggressive driving, the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation invites you to join its first Dick Herron Annual Ride and Walk on Oct. 8 in Lincoln Park.

The Ride and Walk has expanded its vision from youth cycling to include Drive With Care, a campaign to make streets safer for all users. Drive With Care is a groundbreaking campaign that educates road users and collaborates with a broad coalition of government and municipal leaders to make streets safe for all users.

Help establish a legacy of safe cycling and driving. In memory of Dick Herron, and of friends and family who have been victims of aggressive driving, we ask you to make a tax-deductible contribution of any amount toward Build & Ride or Drive With Care, and join the Dick Herron Annual Walk and Ride by calling Arline Welty at (312) 427-3325, ext. 237.
