New Faces in Bicycling Advocacy

The Chicagoland Bicycle Federation recently brought aboard three staff members to strengthen our efforts for bicyclists in the region.

Susan Peithman

Susan Peithman, program assistant for Mayor Daley's Bicycling Ambassadors and Mayor Daley's Safe Routes Ambassadors, scheduled the six-week season of presentations by the newly-created Mayor Daley’s Junior Bicycling Ambassadors, and now is helping lay the groundwork for Chicago’s participation in the Oct. 5 International Walk and Bike to School Day. A former ambassador herself, she has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and favors a blue steel Torelli bike that is color-coordinated to resemble either Superman or Spiderman.

Office Manager Daisy Del Valle formerly worked with St. Vincent DePaul Center. She runs the front desk and keeps the office running smoothly; and she played a critical role in relocating the CBF to its new office. The only things that distract her from the books she loves to read are the sounds of either Nina Simone or Billie Holliday.

Stacey Meekins is filling in for Research Director Matt Maloney, who is on leave to pursue a master’s degree in public policy at the University of Chicago.

Stacey helps the CBF develop and evaluate programs like Safe Routes to School and Go Healthy!. She studied urban planning at University of Illinois, Chicago. Meekins likes swimming, cooking and traveling. Favorite bike? Any and all. Favorite song? Billy Bragg and Wilco’s “California Stars.”
