A Day to Build Upon

Parents and children brought the streets of Wheaton to life on Oct. 5 as Briar Glen Elementary School observed International Walk and Bike to School Day. Sixty individual schools representing about 23 different suburban communities participated along with 19 Chicago schools. The event was promoted by Chicagland Bicycle Federation and Mayor Daley's Safe Routes Ambassadors, a program of the Chicago Department of Transportation. (photo: Jim McDermott)
