A role awaits your time, energy

No matter your interest, the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation has
a formal committee for you:
The Audit Committee has two primary functions.
The first is to monitor the organization and evaluate its work as
it relates to our 20-Year Vision, generally established standards,
and these policies and procedures. The second is to shepherd the
financial audit. Professional experience not needed, but bookkeepers,
accountants and evaluators are perfect for this work. Meets when

The Board Development Committee works on two issues.
The first is to identify potential new board members and the second
is to identify and develop board training and leadership development
opportunities. Longtime members with an interested in sustainability
and leadership, organizational development professionals and trainers,
and members with long contact lists are welcome at this committee.

The Event Strategy Committee works to lead and
grow the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation’s events in the long
term by strategizing new events and reviewing current opportunities.
Committee members involve themselves in research; creating leadership
standards and training strategies for volunteers; developing scope
and plans for events and new opportunities; and developing partnerships
to improve Chicagoland Bicycle Federation’s event experience.
The committee is filled with folks who love our events and want
to make them better, safer and bigger. Meets during weekday evenings

The Finance Committee meets prior to board meetings
and reviews financial statements. It makes financial recommendations
to the board and assists in budget preparation. Professional experience
not needed, but bookkeepers, accountants, financial managers find
a home here. This committee generally meets downtown during weekday
work hours. Contact ben@biketraffic.org.
The Fundraising and Sponsorship Committee works
as a team to increase donations from local and national companies
and individual donors. No experience necessary, but outgoing individuals
who are not afraid to ask others for money work well here. Contact

The Issues Committee examines the Chicagoland Bicycle
Federation’s policy issues to understand relevance, impact
and strategy. It also considers policy to provide reasoned guidance
to the board and advise on strategy and appropriate response. This
committee identifies appropriate methods of communicating to members
on policy issues. All members with an interest in policy and legislation
will find a home here. Meets when needed in early evening. Contact

The Marketing and Communications Committee drives
the organization’s marketing work and helps develop new campaigns,
strengthens our brand awareness, and helps push the envelope all
the time. Professional experience not needed, but marketing, communication
and ad specialists that are attracted to the idea of selling something
other than widgets for big companies will find this committee rewarding.

The Membership Committee shepherds and drives the
organization’s membership campaigns and policies. This is
the grand dame of the committees with monthly meetings during weekday
lunchtime downtown. Contact liz@biketraffic.org.
The South
Side Bicycle Movement is a multi-cultural advisory
committee for the bicycling environment on the South Side of Chicago.
Created in August 2004, the group gives a voice to South Side bicycle
issues while celebrating and encouraging bicycling in these communities
and neighborhoods. This informal coalition of bike groups and individuals
posts relevant information including rides, meetings and issues.
Members who live on the South Side of Chicago or Chicago’s
Southland are invited to join. Contact keith@biketraffic.org.
The
Sunday Parkways Stakeholders Committee
includes Chicagoland Bicycle Federation staff, board members and
other community leaders engaged in ensuring the success of the Sunday
Parkways program. The committee is open by invitation, but interested
members should contact adolfo@biketraffic.org.
