Volunteer brings advocacy straight to village hall

In this issue, meet three Chicagoland Bicycle Federation volunteers who help improve bicycling across the region:

Ronit Bezalel, who tells her story in the following piece; Jennifer Norris, who volunteered her professional expertise as an event organizer; and Matthew Hunter Griffin, who pushed his community elected officials to adopt a bike plan.

Bike Traffic: Tell us about the volunteer work you did.

Ronit Bezalel: I volunteered as a marshal for Bike the Drive. I was with my bike group, Windy City Cycling Club. We were by the Fullerton exit to cheer on participants, and then to make sure that all cyclists were off the road by the time the drive was opened up to cars. I also volunteered at the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation table at the Chicago Bike Show.

BT: What was your reason for volunteering?

RB: I'm a huge bike advocate. I think it makes economic and environmental sense. I also love the work that the organization does. It's a great organization. So, I feel good about volunteering for the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation and for something I believe in.
