Bold plans mean improved bicycling in Chicagoland

Forgive me, but I am a planner. I like to know what I’m doing and where I’m going. That doesn’t mean I don’t also like spontaneity at times; but I value a well-planned and well-executed party more than I value an impromptu bar hop, even if they are both fun in the end. That’s why I’m so excited about the new 20-year strategic plan of the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation.

It’s a well-planned party awaiting the guests to show up. I envision this Bike Traffic issue as the formal save-the-date card for the future of bicycling and walking in Chicagoland. We hope to see you there!

The planning of the party has taken almost two years. Our board and staff worked together along with our committees to draft this vision for the next 20 years and to develop implementation strategies.

Everyone’s participation has enriched the vision and will ensure the success of our work. And now, without further ado, please sit back, relax and enjoy the 20-year vision of bicycling and walking in Chicagoland. We are extremely proud of it and can’t wait to see you along the journey.

Rob Sadowsky is the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation’s executive director.
