Phone calls move legislation forward

Despite the lingering chill in the air, the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation’s legislative agenda is hot.

Your phone calls to elected officials were key to bringing this important legislation forward.

On March 12, the Chicago City Council unanimously passed the 2008 Chicago Bicycle Safety Ordinance that cracks down on reckless driving.

The Vulnerable Users Bill (S.B. 2596 and H.B. 4861), which increases penalties for killing or injuring a pedestrian or bicyclist, made it through committee.

The Transportation Enhancements and Safe Routes to School Transparency Act (S.B. 2311 and H.B. 4757) also made it through committee. This bill improves funding for pedestrian and bicycle facilities.
