Demand safe CTA bus drivers

The tragic death of 59-year-old Ludwika Sazynalik is an outrage. Clearly, had the driver applied his training, this tragedy could have easily been prevented.
Ludwika was removing her bike off the No. 152 bus Dec. 31, 2007, when the driver accelerated, dragging her more than 80 feet.

CTA must ensure that drivers are trained properly. CTA has a responsibility to take every precaution to protect the most vulnerable road users, including pedestrians, bicyclists and the elderly.

The Chicagoland Bicycle Federation has written a letter to CTA demanding action to prevent future tragedies. View this letter on bike>>blog at www.biketraffic.org

This also serves as a reminder to cyclists who use CTA Bike & Ride: Explicitly informing the driver that you will remove your bike from the rack is one way to keep yourself safe.
