Call your representatives and urge them to support the Vulnerable Users Bill (H.B. 4861).
The Driver’s Education and Safety Committee will hear the Vulnerable Users Bill tomorrow morning and the entire House of Representatives will vote on it later this week.
The bill proposes that motorists whose reckless driving kills a bicyclist or pedestrian would face increased penalties, including a class 2 felony charge, fines up to $10,000, jail time and license revocation.
Current penalties include neither jail time nor significant monetary fines.
